Townsend Fall Festival is Back!

Join us for the weekend of celebrations as Townsend Fall Heritage Festival returns to the Peaceful Side of the Smokies on September 23 & 24, 2022. You will enjoy Bluegrass music, live demonstrations, authentic food, and local arts and crafts while learning more about Appalachian tradition!

The festival will take place at the grounds of Townsend Visitor Center, 7906 E. Lamar Alexander Parkway and will have so much to offer!

Shopping

See dozens of vendors and shop for handcrafted baskets, wooden bowls, textiles, unique pottery, log cabin lamps, hand stamp jewelry, handmade bath and body products, and other items created by local craftsmen. Although maybe a little too soon, this is a great time to start thinking about building your Christmas list with unique and thoughtful gifts for your entire family!

Bluegrass Music

This weekend, the sounds of Appalachian Bluegrass will be played by a wide variety of musicians from Tennessee and neighboring states. From signature banjo and dulcimer to violins and steel guitars, your feet are guaranteed to start moving to the mountain tune. There’ll also be clogging and square dancing, a perfect opportunity to learn something new!

Live Demonstrations

On September 24th, our neighbors and good friends at the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center will be hosting a traditional country fair with animal demonstrations, games, and fun for all ages. You can even learn how to cook on the open hearth and take tintype photos! Heritage Center will also offer a free shuttle running throughout Townsend with stops at Little Arrow Outdoor Resort, Jeep Outpost, Big Meadow Campground, The Abbey, Little River Railroad Museum, Apple Valley Cafe, and Townsend Visitors Center. Just leave your car parked at one of the festival’s destinations and let somebody else drive you!

Food and Snacks

Honey, homemade butter, pickled veggies, funnel cakes, jams, and other mouth-watering snacks will tie you over before your dinner at Elvira’s. No reservations are needed! Just stop by after the fest and try some of our signature dinner specials and Ms. Judy’s famous desserts. Before you go, check out our Facebook Stories for the latest menu updates.
